Fallen Earth is a post apocalyptic MMORPG set on planet Earth after the deadly Shiva Virus wiped out most of the population. The setting is futuristic, based in the year 2055, although limited advanced technology is available due to the virus outbreak.

One of the more notable features of Fallen Earth is the skill-based combat system that has more similarities with an FPS combat system than an RPG. The game uses a reticule feature and although certain weapons increase accuracy and damage, the base ability to combat is being able to aim at your opponent, bringing twitch style FPS tactics into play.

When you create your character, you have the option of investing in 4 different fields of advancement. Stats, Active Skills, Mutations and Trade Skills. Stats are the basic advancement of your character and influence the maximum level of your active skills, these play out in a similar way to popular RPG's like Oblivion. Mutations are a unique feature, unsure whether it's caused by the Shiva Virus or exposure to high levels of radiation, unlocking a mutation allows you to access several new skill sets including Augmentation, Restoration, and Destruction.

The game takes a unique approach to crafting, rather than limiting players on what they can harvest and craft, Fallen Earth allows players to be totally self-sufficient. You can gather your materials related to any Tradeskill and use those components to craft any item available. The crafting is still tier based so you still have to progress as you would a normal MMORPG crafting system but you're not restricted in certain fields by crafting in others. Components are also harder to come by when compared to typical MMORG crafting, as the game is set in a post-apocalyptic world, anything of value is very hard to come by.
