Looks great at the start, not bad till 20, and by 25 you are goddamn furious about the ‘lotro store’ and how much advantage and ability premium users have over the free….. Game had potential, sucks to play, enjoy, then feel screwed.
This game ticks me off because every time I try to play it, I have to create a person, It won’t let me, I get to the character creation thing and bam, I am doing all I can to anythen but exit, I can select warrior and w.e. I can’t pick race, Idk what to do. If someone helps me great, but this is maken me mad, (YES I RELOADED AND YES I REINSTALLED.) 8X
A great game that stays true to the world created by J.R. Tolkien. Without premium, your account will have certain limitations, like not being able to ride a mount, but this can be bought at the in-game store for Turbine points. Turbine points are awarded for completing certain deeds, for example slaying a set number of monsters or exploring a zone. With the Lone Lands zone now freely available, it will be at least until the mid 30s before you’ll need to purchase additional content to continue questing. All in all, it will keep you entertained for a good while at least.
With respect to the story, and the idea I like, but the limitations will drive you nuts. My charecter was level 35 and I had exaused all my points, and was unable to do much else other than the same three instances and two Skermishes. I had completed all Slaying quests and zone quests for the contend I had unlocked up to Trollshire. And after months of not playing I tried again about a month ago, and still I kept threw my paitence and I hit the same problem. I could only unlock 2 charecters, (level 25 and 35) but I only had like 150 Turbine points. I was LOCKED in, and came to the conclusion that I would eventually have to buy points! Yeah, I could have gone to 35 also with my alt, but when certian points cost 600 Turbine points, and I only earn 10 per slaying of 30 monsters… or exploring a zone… but what I spent two weeks playing to get 300 points and still be short? Either way, I felt locked in, and still do. If they had more ways to gain points, or brought up the amount from earnings it may be worth it. I know they just want to get paid for their work, but this is a shitty excuse for “free to play!”
hi thank you for letting me know these things about the free to play option for lotro ill make sure i dont download it now
this is a great game.. YES it has a premium item store.. but EVERY “free to play” game has some form of item store.. they need to make oney somehow to continue updating and adding new content.. ok some of the limitations suck.. such as certain “locked” areas, but there’s still plenty of other quests to be done.. all in all.. a great game to play (if you’re a fan of the books more then the movies)
It’s not really F2P. It’s kinda like WoW; You have access to 4 areas at the start for free: The 3 starter areas and 1 additional area. They can get you through to mid 30’s without having to buy anything. However, then the quests dry up unless you buy Quest Packs. (You can do “deeds” ingame which reward very small amounts of TP, anywhere from 5-20) You can buy 1 quest pack with the TP you can scrounge up (I have managed to garner a total of about 700ish, aka 1 quest pack. >_>), and then that’s all for free players.
(I DO know that the epic questline goes through all the areas, but that’s still only 1 questline. The people who like having a lot to do would probably get bored of just having the 1 quest eventually.)
stop whining cuz ur too poor to pay 15$ a month for membership, and to get a 20$ game card here and there,u get what u pay for kiddo,u want free u want crap:)and tbh i only bought like 3 cards to get moria expansion, and 15$ a month gets my everything so it a very well put together game, dont let this guy steer u clear because he wants to have an awesome gaming expierence for free, and cant,so he knocks it,game is awesome,i advise anyone!!to check it out.
oh and if ur new go hunter or guardian/captain.
