EverQuest II, developed and published by Sony Online Entertainment, is a 3D fantasy MMORPG, based on the popular EverQuest. The game was released on November 8 2004, but re-released in July 2010 as a free-to-play game with a cash shop included. The game, compared to its predecessor, has improved the graphic and audio quality as well as the gameplay and the combat system. EverQuest II sets the player into the same fantasy world of Norrah as in the first game, 500 years after the first installment. It doesn’t go along as a sequel, but rather puts the player into a “parallel universe”.

The character customization allows the players to tweak their character’s hair and facial features allowing them to visit a Barber Shop to change their appearance. Everquest II offers 19 races and 24 classes, but free players are limited to four races (Barbarian, Erudite, Half Elf and Human) and eight classes (Guardian, Berserker, Templar, Inquisitor, Wizard, Warlock, Swashbuckler and Brigand).

Each class has over 20 distinctive abilities. A great improvement is the smoother and faster paced combat system. EverQuest II offers a large variety of quests to complete, quests which range from the usual “kill the X amount of enemies” to “deliver a package to a specific location”. Players will never find themselves grinding for too long, because there are quite a lot of quests to do.

In the PvP sector, Everquest II was originally released with very limited Player vs. Player combat, but in time there were added battlegrounds, arenas and the possibility of dueling. PvP isn’t a blast, but it’s there for those who want to take part in battles against other players.

EverQuest II is one of the best free-to-play MMORPG available. All in all, the game offers tons of quests to complete and a smooth and fast paced gameplay.
