Developed by devCAT, part of the Korean Nexon Corporation, Vindictus takes the MMO hack & slash genre one step further. The game released on October 27, 2010, makes use of the highly permissive Source Engine to create an environment where almost everything is destructible. Classes and Characters in Vindictus are one and the same and at the beginning of the game the players will be able to choose from five iconic characters that employ different monster-dispatching methods.

Lann is a male warrior who specializes in dual wielding weapons and melee strikes executed with lightning speed.

Fiona, a female character, can be easily included in the tank archetype as she is able to wear heavy armor and wields a sword and a shield, or two handed hammer as an alternative. As she levels up she can switch to plate armor.

Evie is the only Vidicus character that can use magic. She can be considered an offensive character with the ability to tackle multiple enemies at once, or a defensive character that aid the party. Her main weapon is a staff and the alternative weapon is a battle scythe.

Karok or Kalok is a giant who specializes in melee combat and that can do impressive damage with slow combos. He uses pillars as weapons and can also switch to hand to hand combat.

Kai is a male archer that uses ranged abilities to keep enemies at bay.

Even though there are only five playable characters, during the character creation stage players can customize certain esthetic aspects of these characters, but also things such as height that affect gameplay.

Vindictus was nominated for Best MMO at E3 2010.
