Battlefield Heroes is a free to play third-person shooter developed and published by EA. The game is a lighthearted version of the popular Battlefield franchise, and it includes many similar features including infantry, vehicle and aerial combat.

When you play Battlefield Heroes, you're given the choice of playing 1 of 3 classes. The available classes are Commando, Gunner and Soldier, each having very different play styles. Although the classes follow typical shooter archetypes like Heavy Weapons, Infantry and Sniper, you can customize each class as you level up in the game. Each class has access to five separate skills, which increase in power as you level them up. The skills vary by class, Commando gets abilities such as Steath, Troop Trap and Piercing Shot while the Gunner gets access to skills like I Eat Grenades and Hero Shield, each skill has certain uses and players must learn when to apply the skills in order to be successful.

The game offers extensive customization options, allowing players to change almost anything about their character. You can customize the basic appearance such as facial hair, eyebrows and facial features, but you can also purchase and unlock cosmetic items such as face-paints, tattoos, clothing and headgear. The game does take a humorous approach to the Battlefield series, offering crazy designs for your character and a number of funny voice-overs and taunts but it maintains enough serious aspects to keep you interested.

Although other modes are available, the core mode of Battlefield Heroes offers similar mechanics to that of the other titles in the franchise, each map has a certain number of vital points, a team must control these points in order to win the game. With other units available to support attacks, such as Jeeps, Tanks and Airplanes, it does feel very similar to other Battlefield games but it is available to play completely free.
