Defiance is an upcoming buy-to-play, third-person shooter from Trion World. Based on the upcoming television series on Sci-Fy, Defiance promises to usher in a new era of gaming as players will be able to influence the TV series and see the results of the TV series come to life in the expansive world of Defiance.

Players will be able to choose their own character in Defiance, creating a hardened soldier as either a human or alien. Each side has access to totally different technology, weapons, items and safety hubs. Much like the TV series players will experience a constant struggle for survival as both species are intent on destroying the other, without remorse of fear or reprisal.

Defiance boasts an open-world exploration experience unlike anything seen before in the online space. Players will be able to explore a massive game world, competing for alien technologies and surviving against both hostile player characters and vicious AI enemies. The game world is based on the same area featured in the Sci-Fy TV series, futuristic San Francisco Bay Area. Players are promised an open ended experience that will set all previous third-person shooter games to shame.

One of the most defining aspects of Defiance is the players ability to shape the future of the world. Players can explore the game in full 3D glory featuring beautifully rendered graphics, but they can also enjoy a vast amount of story and background provided by the television show. The events that occur in the upcoming TV series will also drastically effect the living, breathing game world of Defiance.

Defiance is currently in closed beta testing and there's not an official release date available. Players can currently pre-order the game for $59.99 on all platforms, PC, Xbox360 and Playstation 3.
