The Elder Scrolls Online Subscription Details Announced
Carbine Studios recently shocked the world with their pay-to-play announcement for WildStar and Zenimax Online have followed suit with their revenue model announcement for The Elder Scrolls Online. During a recent interview the President of Zenimax Studios, Matt Firor, officially announced that The Elder Scrolls Online will be a pay-to-play MMORPG game. The game will adopt the traditional approach to the financial model, expecting players to pay a single purchase price before subscribing on a monthly basis. The exact amount has yet to be confirmed but we're expecting a similar price tags to other titles using the same revenue model, around the $15 mark. I'm not about to dive into the F2P vs P2P debate as the benefits and negatives to both sides are obvious. However, I will say a lot of people are going to struggle to justify the increased spending. Console fans by tradition are not used to forking out an additional monthly fee and considering The Elder Scrolls community has always been offline-based, it could be a difficult sell for Zenimax Online.
