World of Warplanes is the latest free to play MMO game from Wargaming.net, the same development team that brought you the record breaking, World of Tanks. World of Warplanes will include many of the features that made World of Tanks so successful, but with an aerial spin, focusing on intense dogfights and plane customization. World of Warplanes is set during a pivotal time in aviation history, featuring famous planes from the 1930s, right up to the top of the range Korean fighter planes that paved the way for today's top dogs such as the F-15 and Harrier Jump Jet.

World of Warplanes will feature a huge variety of flyable aircraft, separated into 3 categories, Light Fighters, Heavy Fighters and Ground Assault. Light Fighters will deal with enemy planes, featuring light armor and quick firing weapons to give them the advantage in an aerial dogfight. Heavy Fighters offer players much more powerful weaponry at the cost of speed and maneuverability. Ground Attack is the most unique of the 3 categories as it features planes specifically built to attack ground targets, aimed at a number of the objective based game modes that require players to take out enemy facilities on the ground. Teams will have to combine all 3 types of planes in order to complete a mission, offering every player a chance to specialize in the planes they enjoy the most.

Players will be able to customize many aspects of their plane, as well as developing their character through a nation-specific trait tree. Traits begin with giving access to Tier 1 planes, with players having to earn experience points in order to progress through the tech tree's to eventually unlock Tier 10 planes. There are multiple planes within each tier, giving players the option of specializing in one specific plane type or branching out to increase their arsenal. Players will be able to customize various aspects of an individual plane such as ammo and armor, as well as more mechanical aspects such as the engine and navigational tools, making World of Warplanes the number one stop for aviation fans across the globe.
