One of the longest surviving MMORPG games still played today, Ragnarok online originally launched in 2002 and is still considered by many to be one of the first, true MMORPG titles.

Ragnarok was one of the first MMO titles to introduce a "Job" system over the typical approach of the usual MMORPG class choices. The unique job system allows players to choose a far more specific path for their character, giving the options of deep specialization and branching out to other jobs which offers the opportunity of hundreds of job varieties and combinations

Along with the unique Job's, Ragnarok also allows players greater customization in the form of collecting rare cards for the use of combining with weapons and armor to offer more specialist attribute builds. Each card can offer improvements in a variety of stats and can even be combined with other cards on the same item to increase the potency and strength of the item.

To compliment both these systems Ragnarok has a very active Player vs Player system that allows you to queue for PvP matches from almost anywhere in the world and join via instance loading much in the same way that World of Warcraft and other arena/queue based MMO games do.

Ragnarok also has an extensive pet system, including over 25 unique pets, all with their own personality, emoticons and behavioural patterns giving players a companion with them wherever they go.

Although the environment is 3d, the character/avatar art is 2 dimensional but is delivered in a well received eastern/anime style graphics engine that allows for smooth transitions between maps and little to no lag even for older machines.
