- July 22, 2011Call Of Gods - Review
Call of Gods is the latest browser based free to play MMO from Aeria Games. Call of Gods offers players the choice of 3 playable races in the form of Human, Elf and Undead, all with unique units, structures, cultures and capital cities.
A quite unique addition to the MMORTS genre is the fact that many players are forced to travel to the capital cities in order to perform certain tasks and complete certain quests. The main point of this being the item transmute feature. As you travel through the game you can collect materials and ingredients that will allow you to combine and improve items, weapons and armor.
Call of Gods also offers a variety of quest types including main quests, side quests, reward quests and alliance quests. The first two types are pretty standard to MMORTS games however the rewards and alliance quest systems allow players to complete a set number of unique quests each day. The most unique aspect of Call of Gods' questing system is the alliance quests. Once you've joined or created an alliance you unlock a whole new set of quests that every player in the alliance can complete a certain number of times each day. This offers something most browser games struggle to provide, group questing with alliance members for mutual benefit.
As well as the quest system, Call of Gods allows you to recruit and control "Heroes". Each hero has unique attributes and abilities, with the overall ability of the hero being judged on his "potential" stat. This allows players to save a large amount of time as they don't have to level potentially weak heroes which is a fresh approach when compared with other browser based MMORTS games.
The game is still considered to be in beta stages but is available for everyone to play and so far, no announcements have been made on any region restrictions.
