Anarchy Online is a science fiction based MMORPG title from the developers that brought you Age of Conan and the upcoming Secret Worlds. The game is unique among MMORPG titles, featuring a deep learning curve, massive character customization and a huge game world, it's no surprise AO is still going strong after so many years.

Creating your character in Anarchy Online is no simple feat, unlike other MMORPG titles that focus heavily on customizing appearance, AO tends to lean more towards customizing your characters abilities, strengths and weaknesses. You get to choose from 14 specialization classes, including everything from industry regulars like Soldier and Healer to more exotic choices such as Secret Agent and Trader, all with their own skill trees and ability list. Within each class is a number of skill trees, allowing you to choose exactly what to focus on within your class, creating hundreds of possible class specialization combination's.

One of the most successful aspects of Anarchy Online is the community. If you're familiar with the typical hate banter of other MMORPG titles, AO is a breath of fresh air. The game features live "Greeters", special players that have the responsibility of helping newcomers and teaching them the basics of the game, which has gone a long way to maintaining such a strong player-base. Other community features include regular community held events, live in-game customer support and many guilds that have the sole purpose of training new players.

Anarchy Online has seen a number of premium expansions over the years, including Notum Wars, Shadowlands, Alien Invasion, Lost Eden and Legacy of Xan. All of which added hundreds of hours to game play, dozens of instances and dungeons, new classes and an abundance of other game features and mechanics. The last few expansions are still available through purchase only but the original ones now come free with the game.
