End of Nations has been hailed as the next-generation of MMORTS games but a number of reports are circulating that may spell doom for this AAA RTS game. Firstly came the announcement that the open beta will be delayed indefinitely and players that purchased both the Collector and Founder editions will be offered a refund.
More recently, after a message from a developer on Twitter, it has been confirmed that the developers Petroglyph studios have laid-off around 30 employees. Although exact reasons for this are unknown, it's not good practice to layoff employees less than a month before Christmas which has left many to believe this is a last ditch attempt to save the game.
However, Petroglyph have confirmed on a number of occasions that the game has not been cancelled, they're simply delaying the release in order to provide a higher quality product. Let's hope End of Nations can get back on its feet in the new year.
