DC Universe Online Going Free To Play

A recent announcement on Sony’s Livecast teased players with details on the upcoming free to play model for DC Universe Online. The latest title in the superhero MMORPG genre lets players explore iconic locations like Gotham City and starting November 1st, they can do it all for free.

DCUO enjoyed a moderately successful launch, with minimal problems, but has struggled to attract any new players in recent months. Other superhero MMORPG titles such as Champions Online and City of Heroes already had the genre covered, however both offered a free to play model so it is no surprise that Sony Entertainment Online has decided to follow suit with this latest announcement.

Players can expect a typical free to play model, featuring several tiers of subscription and downloadable content. The game will begin offering the free to play model beginning November 1st.
