The world of mobile gaming has yet to offer MMO fans a serious title to enjoy but that could all change with the upcoming release of Albion Online. Earlier today the developers, Sandbox Interactive, announced some rather exciting information surrounding the games rather unique method of item and character customization.
As with many of today's most popular titles players will be treated to an impressive crafting feature that allows them to create hundreds of unique items to better their characters. This is usually the extent of character customization in today's titles but Albion Online is taking that to new levels. Players will be able to combine a huge variety of spells and abilities to their weapons and armor pieces, creating truly unique character builds and opportunities in combat. It's not all that far off the incredibly popular Materia system seen in Final Fantasy 7.
“Let’s say you want to craft a tier-two broadsword: currently, there are 30 different meaningful spell setups for this sword with room for expansion,” says David Salz, Technical Director for Albion Online. “What was important for us in designing this is that a weapon, although it has a lot of possibilities, still has a certain characteristic. So our broadsword is a bit more of a defense-oriented weapon.”
PC, iOS and Android users will all be able to enjoy the exact same experience on the same servers with the upcoming launch of Albion Online.
