This game can be really fun, if you play with the other travianers. The clue is to work with the players around you, and make (or join) a strong alliance. Teamplay is crucial in this game, no one can make the world wonder (endgame) by themselves, without getting smashed by the strong alliances, and their coordinated attacks.
Since the game is based on teamplay and huge alliances, (from 60 to well over 100 players) the gameplay can take twisted turns at every corner. The outcome is not always based on power, but on tactics and joined effort. If you play alone, however, you will lose interest at some point, or get attacked by those who wants your resources.
A game server lasts for 6 months, 3 months (I think) on 3x speed servers. Although one can use gold (money currency) to get better, it is nothing spectacular, (+25% resources from cities is the best one) and you can easily get all the gold upgrades for a round by selling silver (game currency for some things) which you will get loads of if you’re a little active every day and do the daily quests, like trading resources, research a troop type and such.
Pros:
– Be a roman, gaul or teuton with completely different troop types and some buildings, build good res. fields or take what you want from other players. Or both.
– 10 types of troops. Based on infantry, scout, cavalry, siege weapons and expanders (settler/chief).
– Heroes that lvl and use gear, different types of villages to settle, (get a 15-cropper with 150%+ crop production from oasises and make a huge army) over 20 different building types, ‘chief’ a village from another player or destroy one completely with catapults, at some point get the artifacts from the natars which can help you and your alliance with speed, power, scouting power, res. capacity and many more. Lots of quests to help with the startup phase.
– Clean interface, wiki is in-game and expansive, also clean interface.
– ‘statistics’, leaderboards based on population, attack, defence, top 10 of the week + more. For players, ‘kingdoms’ (only Kingdom servers) and alliances.
– Easy to learn, very hard to master, as you need to use calculation, diplomacy, teamwork and a lot of real-world skills to win over your opponents.
Cons:
– Startup period can be a little long, there is not that many objectives besides expanding your empire, forming alliances and crushing opponents.
– I don’t know, find some.
If you’re come all the way down here, thank you for reading, and may God’s mercy be upon you.
