Project Blackout is a free to play MMOFPS game from popular free to play publishers, SG Interactive, The same team that brought you Panyga and Trickster Online). The game has a heavy focus on twitch-based skills, where players with quick reactions and a sharp mind will dominate over the average gamer.

The game features over 25 realistically detailed maps, ranging from jungle scenarios to shopping malls and city streets, creating a lot of variation and tactical requirements for each map. Players can also create their own routes and shortcuts using the destructible environment feature, blowing holes in walls and buildings to expose enemy positions or give you the opportunity to flank your enemy without them knowing.

Quests come in the form of Mission Cards, players are able to purchase Mission Cards from the Mission Menu in-game, this in turn unlocks a certain task or requirement that a player must meet in the next few matches to be rewarded with extra experience points and weapons. Mission types vary from typical kill "X" amount type quests to more in-depth tasks such as shooting the bomb carrier or disarming a bomb, it depends on what game mode you're playing.

Players have access to over 50 different weapons and pieces of equipment, all of which are divided into set categories like Primary Weapons, Secondary Weapons, Armor, Equipment and Grenades. Each item can be upgraded or better versions can be bought or earned through missions, players can also upgrade guns with items like red-dot sights and larger magazines.

Project Blackout feels similar to other online shooting titles such asWarRock and Crossfire featuring a MMORPG type progression system and upgrades as well as a number of other unique features. The game is available free to play but players wishing to purchase better guns and protection can do so using micro transactions.
