Gladiators is a free-to-play strategy browser game developed and published by the Russian game developing studio Nekki. The game, released in 2010, combines strategy and action genres.

The game sets the player into an ancient Rome setting in which he or she takes the responsibility of buying and training gladiators. The players can build a gladiator school, among other buildings such as a farm, baths, a market place, and buy gladiators from the slave market and train them.

Gladiators offers 10 different types of gladiators, each with its own weapons, armor and combat style. For example, the Retiarius is light armed while the Secutor wears a heavy armor. The player can choose the training time their gladiators must undergo and equip them with better armor set to increase their chances to survive battles.

Once the gladiators are ready the player can enter tournaments and duels to win money and glory. This is where the action part of the game comes into focus. As battles develop in front of the palyers they have the chance to see the evolution of their gladiators and hope that their skills and experience will prove sufficient for winning the battle. Up to 14 players can participate in duels. Gladiators also offers the player a political and economic implication.

Over all, Gladiators is an entertaining browser game which allows players to control vital aspects of a gladiator’s life.
