Crimecraft is a unique free-to-play 3D third-person shooter with several MMORPG elements or Persistent World Next-generation shooter (PWNS) as it was introduced. The game is set in world devastated by economical crisis. Players will join up one of the several street gangs, which now control and rule the cities of the world, and try to survive. The game was developed by Vogster Entertainment, published by THQ Inc and released on August 25 2009. Crimecraft offers high quality graphics as it was built on Unreal 3 engine and promises a great in-game experience.

Free players of Crimecraft will encounter many restrictions. For example, only one server, called Exeter, is available for free users. Also character customization is limited to simply choosing the gender of the character and then randomizing its features until the player gets satisfactory results.

The players will then enter the Crimecraft world and pass through a simple tutorial explaining the basics of combat. Afterwards they will be introduced to some game’s features such as the gun shop, gun customization options and the payphone which opens up a system of achievements.

Players will be able to join one of the seven game modes:

Turf War – Two teams battle for the control of five strategic points. The first team that succeeds in getting them all wins.

Snatch N’ Grab – This mode is the typical Capture the Flag mode.

Robbery – Each team starts with 100K in cash. The teams must struggle to steal money from each other. The team with a bigger amount of cash at the end of the round wins.

Shootout – Typical Deathmatch.

Riot – Free-for-all Deathmatch. Player with the most kills at the end of the round wins the match.

Safeguard – A PvE mode in which a group of players must protect a weapons cache from AI controlled bots until the time runs out.

Stockpile – Another PvE mode in which players must search through a map for resources while fighting with the bots infesting the place.

Besides these modes players will be able to join Tournaments in which the winning team is awarded with $ 10 000 in-game cash.

Crimecraft stands out because of its uniqueness, but the game lacks polish at the moment. The PvE content is a bit repetitive; RPG elements have little depth and free players face many restrictions, thus unbalancing the game.
