Urban Rivals is a browser-based MMO trading card game platform which was designed by LLCz Productions and developed and published by Boostr. It was released on January 17 2006. The game features fast paced matches and hundreds of cards to collect and use.

During account creation players will be asked to choose the type of cards they would like to start the game with:

Action – Action cards are focused on brute power and damage.

Danger – this kind of cards emphasize on sneak abilities.

Cool – The cards belonging to this deck have controlling powers that can be used to incapacitate the opponents. These cards focus on defense and control.

The game does a great job explaining the basics and the game mechanics in a three minute video. Each new player receives eight cards, the minimum number for a desk. At the start of every match four random cards are chosen from the player’s deck and these cards will be those with which the player will play that match. Another interesting feature is that the card can grow in rank – some have only one rank while other have up to six ranks.

Urban Rivals makes for a great TCG game with a large player base and tons of cards to collect and/or purchase. It doesn’t require spending large amounts of cash money on cards as in other TCG games. Meaning players are able to strengthen their deck and collect new cards without having to invest in a micro-transaction system.

There are very few online TCG games available to fans of the genre but Urban Rivals does a great job of porting the depth of tactics and strategy over to the online space. If you're a fan of the tactics involved in regular CCG games such as Yugioh, you'll love the depth and huge variety of cards available to players in Urban Rivals.
