Do Giveaways Provide Enough Incentive To Make You Try An MMO Game?
The MMO world is filled to the brim with competition. There are dozens of popular publishers, just as many popular developers and thousands of MMORPG games available. But what drives you to try a new MMO game? Would you consider playing a game purely because a website offered some free items or an experience point bonus?
We feature many MMO giveaways here on XMMORPG and they all come in different shapes and sizes. The most popular form of giveaways is usually closed beta codes or early access codes. These give players the opportunity to try a brand new game before release but obviously, they don’t really apply as the opportunity to play a brand new game is incentive enough.
But what about item giveaways or boosts? If you found an MMO game but didn’t really consider it to be your kind of thing, would a giveaway involving said MMO encourage you to play it? Would a bunch of free items for a newish MMO game entice you to join its ranks? Or do you make a decision quickly and leave it at that?
Personally, I make my judgement on an MMO game pretty early on in development. I can usually tell from the first gameplay footage reveal if I’ll like it or not, and no amount of items or boosts will make me change my mind. I enjoy MMO gaming for the experience, the journey, if those factors are poor; new items and quicker leveling isn’t going to improve that enough to warrant my time.
But what about you? Leave your thoughts in the comment section below.
