5 Of Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide’s Biggest Problems
The latest addition to the award-winning Warhammer franchise offers intense 4 player co-op action against the seemingly insurmountable tide of Skaven. Although the game offers some very addictive game mechanics and loot gathering, it's not without its problems. Today we highlight some of the biggest issues plaguing Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide following its recent release.5 - Matchmaking
It seems about just every release that relies on other players to really enjoy the game is plagued with matchmaking problems. It's a little early to make a complete judgement of the game but it could definitely do with some tweaking. It's not uncommon for players to complete an entire level without others filling the place of bots, likewise it's not rare for players to constantly get disconnected partway through a level. Let's hope they sort these as quickly as possible.4 - Dialogue & Cinematics
The very nature of Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide means players often repeat the same levels, the same sequences and the same events time and time again. Although the possibility for rare and valuable loot, alongside the satisfaction of clearing a particularly difficult aspect of a level, can sometimes push you through it soon becomes an annoyance to hear the same lines of dialogue and brief cut-scenes are the start of each level.3 - The Punishment Of Failure
Rewarding skill, communication and good play is never a bad idea but Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide's consequence for lacking any of the latter is leaving a run with next to nothing. Sure, you can get a bit of experience points and maybe a grey item if you level but spending 20-30 minutes on a Hard+ run only to be left with nothing after falling at the final hurdle is a bit cut-throat.2 - Loot Mechanics
The loot mechanics are a double edged sword. On one hand it is one of the most addictive elements of the entire experience but on the other, a seemingly unrewarding grind that often results in many hours of playtime for little return. It's not uncommon for players to favor 1 or 2 of the available characters, leaving 3 remaining that do not benefit from any improvements in equipment. Yet all too often you find yourself grabbing some seriously good gear for characters you don't play. A little less RNG wouldn't go amiss.1 - Exploits
In game like Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide it is practically impossible to test every conceivable way players can attempt to complete a certain level or event. Even with 10,000 testers, one single extra player could use an entirely different method to complete challenging areas. As such it is expected that a few leak through into full release, and Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide is no different. Let's hope they address the bigger exploits, I'm looking at you Black Powder. It's only been a few days since Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide's official release so there's still plenty of time to address the more severe problems. Let's hope the talented folk at the helm don't wait too long.Leave a comment
