H1Z1 Early Access Launch Day – Still No Steam Download
Steam is one of the most popular and highly rated digital distribution services in the gaming industry but even veteran's Valve were not able to get SOE prepped and ready for H1Z1's launch as Steam users around the world hit F5 in the hopes of having the opportunity to purchase and download the game ahead of release. John Smedley of Sony Online Entertainment recently confirmed that there will be approximately 150-200 servers available at launch, focusing originally on the US market before expanding into the EU with local servers following launch. He also revealed that they are prepared for 40,000 concurrent players. On a maximum average based on 200 servers, that's 200 people per server. However, several hours have passed since that point and there's still nothing on the Steam page. This suggests that the client has yet to be built and finalized - prompting many to believe that unexpected changes and fixes were discovered at the last minute. Couple that with the typical stresses of a new game launch, especially in the MMO space, and we could have quite the mess on our hands.Leave a comment
