Destiny Set To Impress The Masses With $500 Million Promotion
Activision's Bobby Kotick today revealed that the company will be spending roughly $500 million to develop and promote the upcoming MMO-esque FPS title, Destiny. If the developers do end up investing such a large figure it could potentially break a record for the most ever invested in a single game.
Destiny is scheduled to release this September and investors are hoping that it becomes the biggest selling franchise in Activision's history. The company signed a 10-year contract with Bungie that gives it worldwide distribution rights and significant control over the development of the franchise.
"If you're making a $500 million bet you can't take that chance with someone else's IP," Activision CEO told the Milken conference. "The stakes for us are getting bigger."
