Black Desert Will Not Allow Cross-Region Play
The Terms of Use for Black Desert Online were updated recently and surprisingly feature the news that players from European and North American regions will not be allowed to play together as IP blocks will be put in place to restrict players to only playing on servers licensed in their region. The Game is licensed by Daum Games Europe only for the Territory. The User may create an Account, access the Website and the Forums from anywhere in the world. However, the User may only access the Shop and the Game from the Territory. In the event the User acquired the Game from the Territory and then relocated outside of the Territory, the User will no longer be able to access the Game. The problem here lies in licensing as certain parties are only legally allowed to represent a game in a specific territory. Usually this isn't a problem as multiple publishers work across many fronts but with Black Desert Online, it does mean European players will not be allowed to play alongside North American players and vice versa.
