Asheron’s Call Going Buy-To-Play
Asheron's Call was originally released back in 1999 and despite not seeing any large expansions for almost 10 years, it continues to prove popular today. One of the longest-running MMO games on the market today isn't ready to give in yet as the developers today announced that Asheron's Call will be removing the subscription option this August. From August players will be able to explore the wonders and relive the memories of Asheron's Call for a one-time payment of $10 before downloading, no monthly fees.“The last payments will be processed on June 31st, making July the final ‘paid’ month,” announced Turbine. “Note that this means some players will technically receive some portion of July free as a result, as we have decided to absorb the cost and not run partial payments to cover it.”Turbine and Warner Bros. Entertainment also previously announced that they will be launching the tools to allow players to run server packages on their own platforms by the end of the year. It shows a great level of dedication from the development team as it's all too easy just to cut the chord nowadays. The passion from Turbine means Asheron's Call could potentially live on for another 10 great years.
