The War Z is an upcoming zombie survival MMO game that has been compared by critics to the massively popular Arma II Mods, DayZ. The War Z is currently in its alpha testing stage but interested players are able to purchase the full game prior to release, granting access to alpha and a variety of other pre-purchase incentives.

The War Z is being advertised as the next-generation of MMORPG games. Players won't have to commit to monthly subscription fees and there will be no extra charge added for expansions and content updates. All future updates will be streamed to the players client free of charge. An item mall will be used to fund the game, but details on the exact kinds of purchases are limited at the moment.

There will be hundreds of available servers to play on, each with an area as large as 400 square kilometers. The first world "Colorado" will be available to play for pre-purchase players and those that join at launch. Players will be able to switch between any of the available game worlds at any time, without having to pay for server transfers. All character data, stats, equipment and items will also carry over to other servers.

The War Z offers a survival MMO experience where players will have to fight for survival in a world crawling with the undead. As well as avoiding zombies and potential infection other players will provide even further threat as people kill each other for extra items, ammunition, food and water. A realistic element is added as players have to ensure they have enough supplies to survive by gathering and saving a large amount of food and water using the games global inventory system. The global inventory is a unique feature that allows players to store the loot they've gathered if they're able to return to a safe zone, reducing the chance of losing items during a PvP encounter.

Unlike DayZ, The War Z offers full player and group support. Players will be able to form parties before they enter any sever and then automatically get assigned to the same server as their friends. This adds a whole new element of group play, rarely seen in games of this type. There will also be full clan support available once the game launches allowing players to form large groups associated with an in-game clan tag.
