Ryzom is a free to play MMORPG set in a unique Sci-Fi based universe. Ryzom takes place in 2531 on the planet Atys, a giant tree that is large enough to support multiple ecosystems, it is this unique setting that sets Ryzom apart from other MMO titles.

The planet Atys is unlike anything you've experience in an MMORPG before, the world is constantly evolving, expanding to uncover new territories and even closing up current ones. Atys expands on a regular basis, growing new roots to connect itself to distance continents, this effects the game world in many ways other than just adding new areas. The climate also varies depending on the current growth state of Atys, there are many variations of weather type and they can change within minutes, creating a totally unique, living game world.

The monsters in Ryzom also demonstrate unique behaviors never seen an in MMO game before, they're not just simple mindless drones for you to slaughter. Certain monsters hunt only in packs and will attack anything that is edible, while other, more docile monsters travel in herds and only eat vegetation. The docile monsters are no pushover either, as they have a pack mentality and will quickly come to the aid of a dieing companion. Atys even allows its monster inhabitants to migrate, which coincides with the weather system, making the world grow and evolve in ways unique to Ryzom.

Ryzom uses more of a sandbox approach to it's progression system, over that of the typical class restricting MMO game. There are no classes in the game, instead players earn skill points that they can invest into various skill trees, each containing unique abilities and skills. Ryzom also utilizes a progressive skill mechanic that levels a skill as it's used, similar to popular games like Oblivion. This creates a highly unique and customizable class system that makes Ryzom one of the most unique MMORPG games available on the market.
