Mortal Online is a first-person sandbox MMORPG played in a fantasy setting. The game boasts a huge game world and as is traditional with sandbox MMORPG's, you're given total freedom of choice in regards to exploration and character progression.

When you create your character you get to select your race, there are 10 available in total, all of which have specific bonuses, back-story and appearance options. You're not restricted to choosing a single race, players are able to choose the race of their family and parents, in effect, creating their own personal race with distinct stats and abilities. You then get to choose your Primary and Secondary Stats and Skills, this system works in a similar way to that of the Elder Scrolls games such as Oblivion and Morrowind. Primary Stats and Skills begin slightly higher than Secondary and also progress at a faster rate, however both sets of skills can reach the cap so you're not restricting yourself with your selection.

PvP action is always one of the most attractive features in a sandbox title and Mortal Online delivers in style. As there are no set PvP zones, players can expect to be attacked almost anywhere in the game world. Certain towns and cities do have Guards that protect you from PvP combat but for the most part, the entire game world is one big arena. The combat system is also skill based, meaning you have to aim your attacks, whether it be with a sword, bow or magic, you have to individually land each and every blow. This creates a highly competitive PvP environment which is perfect for anyone that wants to make a name for themselves. In addition to the hardcore PvP setting, the game also features the full loot system. This means that if you die, or kill an enemy, you can loot everything the player is carrying, no exceptions.
