City of Heroes is a superhero MMORPG game developed by the same team that bought you Aion. The game features all the familiar MMORPG mechanics but instead of the typical fantasy/medieval settings, your character is a spandex wearing superhero with gadgets, capes and even a sidekick.

City of Heroes features 2 unique sides to choose from, you can choose to fight alongside the Heroes or the Villains, both of which have entirely different concepts. The abilities, missions, instances and maps available for both sides are totally unique from one another. Villains level up by successfully completing kidnappings, bank heists and other dastardly deeds, the Heroes level up by stopping Villains performing their evil master plans and other heroic deeds such as saving a cat from a tree.

PvP is a great part of City of Heroes, because of the base concept of the game, battles can take place on the ground or high up in the air. Supergroups, the games version of guilds, can also build their own Base, complete with defensive systems and traps. These bases are the main core of PvP combat, with opposing sides attempting to destroy their opponents base.

Another feature unique to City of Heroes is the Mission Architect System, this system allows players to create their very own missions for other players to experience. The Architect is able to select the maps the mission will be played on, the villains and enemies involved and even create their own text-based storyline for players to experience while they play. As heroes fight through the custom story, they get the same experience points and other rewards as they would a normal quest, but what's really special about this system is what happens at the end of the instance. Once players complete the story, they can rate it out of 5 stars, the higher the rating the mission gets, the more experience points and rewards that the Architect receives. This adds a whole new method to leveling up your character and a system that has yet to be successfully implemented into any other MMORPG.
