Wizard101 is a 3D MMORPG developed and published by KingsIsle Entertainment, featuring a magical setting with a polished and unique graphic style which will make playing the game an amazingly entertaining experience.
The players take the role of young wizards newly enrolled in the Wizard Academy, this giving the game a Harry Potter-like feel. In character customization the player can choose from several hair and face styles along with clothing. Oddly enough the players can’t choose their own names, but they must mix and match names from three lists in order to create their name – this feature comes, probably, from the desire to make the game as child-friendly as possible. Afterward the new Wizard must answer a series of questions in order to choose their specialization, one of the seven featured in-game: fire, ice, storm, life, myth, death, balance.
The combat is card-based. In a duel the player starts off with randomly chosen cards from their deck, cards which can be customized to fit the player’s style, gameplay and situation. The combat is slow paced, but the card-based concept is well designed. The game offers the player a rather small PVP experience – only duels. Players can only access certain areas and in order to access the other parts of the Wizardry world they must pay a subscription or buy the new zones piece by piece.
Easily the most exciting aspect of Wizard101 is the high-quality animations. Every card in a players deck is accompanied by a detailed animation that really adds to the immersion and combat. Unlike other free games that rely on flashing lights and pretty colors, Wizard101 oozes quality that you'll struggle to find in other free MMO games.
With a cartoony graphics and an interesting card-based system, Wizard101 is a well crafted game which many may find entertaining, even though only a small portion of the game is available to play without payment.

As far as the graphics, sound, and game play go this MMORPG is in my opinion one of a kind. It makes you nostalgic for the dragon quest games with it’s brilliantly designed worlds. The quest are about average as far as RPGs go, you know, stuff like go kill these monsters and collect this item or talk to that person ect…. It’s got a few drawbacks, but the one that annoys me the most is the overly sensitive censor while you type. the thing is on par with a paranoid schizophrenic new age first time mother in the Dr. Phil cult. It goes as far as to censor numeric values, you know, 1, 2, 3, ect… and words such as frigging, dumb, and any word that is not recognized in modern English, that’s right no shizle ma nizle, or other slang or abreveations like wtf, or ikr. but if you can muscle through typing the same thing 12 different times for something as simple as your age then it’s actually pretty good.
They copied Toontown completely. But not a bad game.
I have tried for the last 8 months to get my new password from these guys but still to this day haven’t recieved anything as of yet!!!! please contact my E-mail!!!!
I used to play this game awhile ago and you had to pay for certain things. Eventually I leveled high enough to where there was nothing for me to do unless I paid which I did not like. So I uninstalled it and now I come across it again and it says that it’s free. I want to play it cause I really loved it but I’m not sure. But don’t let this stop you if you really like it! I loved it but thats the only downfall I can see in it! Needless to say I’m gonna download it again and play it.
i just started playing this yesterday and you do have to pay to enter certain areas.. it sucks cuz i thought it was free but theres other things u can do but eventually you have to pay to keep going…
Wizard 101 is not free to play. They let you try it up to level 10 content in the beginning area. After you have completed all the quest you are forced to buy new areas or create another wizard. I was not very happy that I couldn’t even go anywhere. I think it is false advertising saying it is a free MMO when clearly that is not the case.
i just hate that you have to pay to go into new areas or new worlds but otherwise i loved the game
Its a fun game enjoyed playing it alot of good fetres in it. Just the draw back of having to pay to get to certain areas in the game is the only disappointment
It was a lot of fun, but what I really hated was the way they drew you in and cut you off. I started playing just long enough to decide I really enjoyed it. Then I found an area I couldn’t access – that I had to pay for. I thought: “ok, no big deal, they have to make money somewhere…” Then I found out 90% of the games areas are only accessible after buying the area or a membership. Granted the price isn’t bad, I was just upset because I was under the impression the game would at least be playable as a non-payer. However, for those willing to buy areas or a monthly subscription – a good game
This game is one of the best games i have ever played. It definantly rivals World of Warcraft
This game is the best ever!!! Yes a huge sum of it is only unlocked by paying real money but as soon as you play you can’t stop even if you don’t pay!!! I definately recommend this game.

I love W101! Sure its not COMPLETELY free but it still it free to play. Free to play doesnt exactly mean its completely free. The membership price is cheaper than most MMORPGs…after all, it costs money to fund/support a MMORPG. 9.98/10
I got this game and the graphics are amazing but when you hit a certain point you can still play but you can’t really do anything because you have to pay to access most of the stuff on there.
i use to play this a realllly long time ago but i quit in a dungeon and the quest that i had in there disappered and like it was really annoying i couldent level or do the quest and kingisle couldent do anything about it…..but if the game is now free to play and theres no monthly fee i would soooo love to come back and just make a new char.
you cant get to level 10 unless you pay, beat the free part of the game in less than 1 night
Played this game for a few days and then immidiatly noticed that its going to be pay to play. Finished alot of the free stuff in the first 3 days untill I hit lv. 8 and then alot of the quest were in membs only areas.
Been playing this game since it was released and it is by far the best out there. they have fixed the chat which means i can say numbers but saying wth or wtf not sure since i do not use slang. i dislike the pet leveling but honestly the game is worth it. unlike free games with guilds and forcing you to play with irritating people, wizard101 is much more relaxing and stress free. KI responds fast to emails unlike many free games i played like Dragon Oath.
they have been updating wizard extremely fast and as of now there is already talk of a new word. can’t say i am bored yet and paying $7 for a month or $60 a year is well worth it.
I have a lvl 41 Life Wizard, a lvl 22 Death Wizard, and I’m working with my lvl 22 female Balance Wizard. Wizard101 by far is one of the best MMO games I’ve played to date. If you see my Life Wizard, friend me. “Jeffrey Sparklestaff”
wizard101 is the best game ever and the people who hate the game are mean just beacuse you have to pay dosent meanits not a good game it means you need to be smart and the game cards
