Shakes & Fidget is a free to play browser title that sets itself apart from other browser games by featuring images and quick animations over the typical poor browser-based MMORPG graphics. The game is played in a similar way to old text-based games but with colorful and highly detailed images, a friendly user interface and plenty of attractive features.

Shakes & Fidget takes a unique approach to character progression, where as most games require you to accumulate experience points performing the same actions over and over, Shakes & Fidgets allows you to purchase your stat increases via gold, the in-game currency. This allows players to level their character how they choose, you can fight other players in an Arena mode for more cash, do quests or even purchase some via micro transactions.

The gear and magic system combines with the stat progression system to give players an important decision to make, to purchase that new weapon or armor piece or to invest in more stats for your character. This is a unique approach in browser games and makes for interesting character progression as each person you face in the PvP Arena can be totally different every time.

The questing system is very basic and user-friendly, you head to the Tavern and select a NPC to talk to, some of which have quests. You get told a brief description of what your task will be, mainly killing a certain level monster. You then accept the quest and you automatically travel to the quest destination. Although this makes it much easier than other MMORPG titles, you can find yourself traveling for up to 15 minutes for certain quests.

To combat the long travel times, you can purchase yourself a shiny steed. The various mounts decrease travel time by a set percentage, with the weakest mount making you reach your destination 10% quicker, and the top mount reducing travel time by 50%. The mounts currently available include a Cow, Horse, Donkey and an Eagle, with the Eagle being the most expensive.
