RuneScape is a browser MMORPG, with a fantasy thematic, implemented on the client-side in Java, incorporating 3D rendering. The game was developed and published by Jagex Games Studio, released in January 2001 by Andrew and Paul Gower.
RuneScape sets the players into the world of Gielinor in which they can battle different types of monsters, earning experience and gathering items that could help them in their future adventures. Players can customize their characters to some extent, tweaking features of their avatars such as hairstyle, face, clothing and so on. By not having a linear storyline the game offers the players the possibility to set their own goals and objectives. The players are instructed of the most basic skills and interactions into a tutorial scenario at the beginning of the game. Afterwards they are left to explore freely the world of RuneScape. 25 skills allow the player to perform various activities throughout the game in order to gain experience, in-game currency and materials for different uses.
RuneScape features a real-time combat system for both PVE and PVP encounters. PVP combat consists of mini-games that players choose to engage in. Players can go into an area called Wilderness, area in which they are able to fight, while in the Duel Arena players can stake money or items.
Players can interact with each other performing activities such as trading, chatting, collaborating in order to complete different quests and mini-games.
The game has about 10 million active accounts per month and over 156 million registered accounts. RuneScape is recognized by the Guinness World Records as the world’s most popular free MMORPG.

Runescape is the best game i’ve ever played. My parents even make me get off because i play it all day.
Runescape used to be fun, but they mess up almost every update and make some overpowered weapon that makes everything so much easier. I used to love this game for the PvP, but now because that everything is now overpowered, there’s no point to it.
Is great till you get hacked. Then hated become the most useless company on the planet. Loyal five years to get nothing back.
Then Jagex become**
RuneScape has been, since the day I first logged in, and always will be my favorite game of all time. It’s just that balance of everything I could ask for in a game. I do have to complain about some of the community though – it seems we get a lot more whiners in the community these days.
i think now more people will come after combat changes and btw runescape got more than 200m accounts
