Perfect World is a free to play 3D adventure fantasy MMORPG with settings being heavily based on Chinese Mythology. It was developed by Chinese company Perfect World and published in Europe in 2008 by Game-Masters Ltd. The game is the flagship MMORPG for Perfect World Entertainment, who have gone on to release some of the most popular MMO games on the market. Perfect World International has been a top title for many players since its EU release in 2008 and since then the game has spawned over 8 detailed expansions. Offering one of the most expansive games on the MMO scene, providing hundreds of quests, monsters and detailed dungeons.
Players are free to choose one of the classes featured in the game, such as: swordsman, archer, magician, priest and magical creature. Over time players develop new skills and new abilities that help them in their adventures. They will have at their disposal magical weapons. Players can choose to team up with online friends in order to defeat monsters, to conquer territories and even govern them.
Although Perfect World is a free to play MMORPG, its profit is solidly dependent on the Item Mall featured in the game. While most of the items have strictly cosmetic features, some of them also enhance character stats and abilities and help improve a player’s gameplay. The game isn't considered as a pay to win title by the majority of the player base, meaning free players are just as capable of being successful as those that choice to invest real money into their characters.
For enhanced security Perfect World also has a phone lock feature, exclusive to the Chinese/Malaysian version of the game, which allows the player to freeze his or her account until the registered phone number is dialed. Not impressed what so ever. Whenever I go to the site to register and hit confirm it clears out all the fields and tells me I didn’t enter in any information. Then I downloaded the client and I tried to launch it and got some weird error message. I’ve tried doing what customer support has told me to do, but nothing is working. I’d love to try this game out, but it seems like too much work to get it to work…Oh well.
i didnt have a problem with the registery problem but i connected with my fb account idk if that made a diff. or not
aye but try using a different browser when registering
I Have played this game and i have to say it is quite impressive. Large community with many players willing to help newbies. Unfortunately, if you really want to become competitive, you have to purchase items and power-ups from the cash shop. It really is hard to become a strong player without spending money. Other than that, pretty good game.
Not satisfied with it at all, a fake version would be better then this. I was impressed at first but soon realized it becomes a Pay to Win game. Not to mention Gms are never there and many boter’s that never get caught. As well Gm and web do not respond to problems unless concerns money *dur its only thing they live for*, only things i like where an actual decent character customization and game play but private servers are ones u wanna go for instead…
This game started out wonderful, but now the entire mechanics of the game have been ruined by updates and new classes/items. Open PVP is broken because of the addition of the overpowered assassin class, and end-game Territory wars are ruled by the cash shopping players. You can get to endgame in a matter of weeks because of hyper leveling, which has ruined the way the game works and has created a huge pool of high levels and has ultimately negatively impacted the community. I do not recommend playing this game.
I downloaded this game on sunday night and it downloaded pretty fast. the only thing i can say about it is that if you are willing to spend money to buy tokens, gold, equipment and different types of weapons and clothes this game might not be for you. I can say that after i reached level 5 i became really bored and tried to get help from fellow players and quickly found out that they are not friendly or they would ignore me, even a simple “hi” would go unnoticed. oh and you also get a lot of requests from ppl asking u to join their faction or a squad but when u accept the invite they kick u out when they see what lvl ur on and that’s because u can’t tell which lvl someone is on unless u add them first (silly because most games allow u to see beforehand) i played for 4 days and reached lvl 18 before i quit. i would rather pay the 15$ per month and play city of heroes. so i guess i would give it a 3. this is only from my personal experience from the past 4days i’m not being mean
its a good game but like others have said if you don’t spend $ in the endgame, u wont last very long. one good thing about this is that there are virtually no hackers. End game gets kinda boring so, if ur like me, you have multiple characters at different level ranges, i have toons from 20 up to 101.
This game would be better if they just take the armor repairs off.. farming is one way to get money but you end up spending money just because of weapon and armor repair.. ive spent like a $100 but i ddnt even reach lvl90 cuz of the expensive stuff u need to buy….
Ive been playing this game since July of 2009 and what I can say is the game has gone consistently downhill. Here’s how it goes, it’s a constant grindfest. Like seriously, farming the same instance over and over day after day for weeks on end to accomplish very little. They’re slowly eliminating farming from the game. Making drops less frequent, or make drops NPC for less, or purchasable through the Item mall. Or in 1 special case, making drops more frequent to make them worth less and not as worthwhile to farm, thus further inciting you to simply buy gold from the item mall instead of attempt to farm for it. If you don’t spend money you won’t enjoy this game. I’ve spent hundreds over the last 2 years and I still barely enjoy it. I only keep playing because of the friendsships I made back when the game was good. New class expansions ruined the game, in PvE and Pvp, it’s purely a solo game now. And PvP is horrible. Absolutely horrible. Everything they introduce into the game is either a coin sink or a cash grab. I give this game a 1, and I highly recommend finding a new game to play, this one is just about dead.
This game is on a downward spiral since its start. With every update the players get screwed over more and the odds shift even further to the $$ people.
The actual game content is largely unnecessary nowadays, people pay for power leveling and then just buy the best gear in the $$ shop. Said gear is ridiculously OP and even “normally” geared squads just race to any instance, there is no challenge anymore.
While it was possible to get ridiculous amounts of coins with merchanting, this is rather difficult now because of the endless sales “events”. This might make the game more interesting tho for players looking for a economical simulation of some sort. If you cannot keep several clients with shops open 24/7, you are doomed anyway.
Actual “playing” boils down to run the same instance within 15 mins or less, all day long, to make money, but only on the rare 2x drop “events”. Else people do dailies which are pretty dull and repetitive, or sit around being bored.
PWI has become more of a chat client than a MMO.
Bugs are rarely fixed, some are there since the beta and its a running gag that the weekly “maintenance” comes with patchnotes that say “minor localization changes”.
GMs and Forum mods are known for lying to their playerbase, which was well documented until the thread was removed from the forums. Also they rarely have to contribute anything intelligent to a discussion. Feel free to visit and find posts by a mod called “FuzzyWuzzy” or something for examples.
I have been around since the start and I have to warn everybody, the game as it is today is neither fun nor does it look pretty compared to other MMOs. It only serves the purpose to make the company as much money as possible before they shut it down.
The way this money is made is questionable and I think even illegal in many countries, since it relies heavily on gambling, selling packs with a very low chance of actually getting something useful inside.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS GAME! UNLESS YOU INTEND TO SPEND SEVERAL THOUSANDS OF $$ AND ENJOY TROLLING PEOPLE IN PVP! BUT CONSIDER THAT MOST PVP PEOPLE ARE JUST AS RICH AND ENJOY TROLLING AS YOU!
PW is awesome!! I’ve been playing the game for close to 3 years, totally addicted to it. I have not charged any real money into the game, I have a character of each class and my gear (equipment) is good. So you don’t have to put real money into the game of buy lots of power-ups (whatever that is) from cash shops. Just spend and save money wisely. Yes the a large of the community are superly overpowerd because they bought their gears etc with real cash, but that doesn’t mean normal players can’t enjoy the game. My advice, play the game for yourself, without conforming to the ideas that you have to pay real cash and don’t worry about the cash shopped players, play your own style, enjoy the game (don’t join a PVP server) and…dont powerlevel (that defeats the object of the game)…
I’ve been playing Perfect World since about… May or June 2009. I have enjoyed the game for a very long time but it is indeed spiraling downwards. The community on my server is great overall (can’t speak for the other servers) but the game itself is getting pretty boring and repetitive. I end up doing the same instances over and over and over to make money. They are indeed continuously screwing over the free to play players in favor of the pay to win players. I cash shop every now and then but its impossible to have some of the better endgame gear without pumping a few thousand dollars into the game. The game is very difficult to get into as a newbie nowadays whereas it was so easy to back in the day.
Pwi sucks, dont belive it, check out the forums
Gm’s dont help ppl and ban players for no reason, some of them even spent 1000+ $ on this game and then get banned for no reason.
And the players that where abusing an exploit to get to MAX level 105, did they get banned? no, GM’s dont care as long as u keep the cash rolin’ in to their pockets.
Dont bother with the offical version of this game. Its circling the drain and only serves to wring as much cash from its players as possible. To get the best armor and weapons in the game cost around 2000 USD. If you dont pay that your just easy pickings for the money players in PVP and TW.
Instead look for a private server version that is limited to preTideborn content, the Tideborn update ruined the official version. Plus the private server versions offer the best equipment of the real game without the heavy cash input the official game requires.
While graphic and characters are pretty community totally sucks, you can’t find help for any bigger quest, guilds are lame, no one is ever online, quests are dull and boring and give so little xp later (you need 20 drops but you need to kill around 100 or more mobs for it), class balance is horrible, aggro skills are broken, popular classes now can easily solo endgame, no team work, no need for healer at endgame, only 2 classes are worth to play now and i could go on and on. in short… game sucks totally except good graphic, stay away from it.
I’ve only been playing this game since June of this year so I cant say how it was ‘back then’ but honestly with all the free-to-play mmos out there, PWI is still the most user friendly game I’ve played and the community is much more welcoming and accepting, however its not a perfect game but then again none of the mmos out there are since cash shoppers will always get the upper hand. What is important is games should be fun to play and PWI fulfills that purpose well with its ENDLESS quest chain, its unique cultivation main quests and loads of instances and places to explore. Class wise, having played Cleric, Assassin, Seeker Psychic and Mystic I can say for certain Assassins have the better deal due to their end game potential however each person should find their own favourite class accordingly to what they believe makes their gaming time fun.
PWI still keeps me busy and with all its distractions in-game makes it a worthwhile just to play for fun. All games have their good points and bad, if you want to play PWI focus on its good qualities and you’ll have a great time.
A fully immense game with a number of classes and varying options.
Customisations and fashions, mounts and the nifty abily to fly in a fully 3D game environment.
Fast paced and in depth storyline will keep you busy for months
Pros: Free, Lots of options with plenty of replay value, hundreds of quests, dozens of instances, party related PVE and PVP, including guild and base options. Completely possible to reach End Game with great gear without spending a single penny…. FACT. Fantastic!
Cons: CS driven, new players will be well behind current climate, some of the nicer functions are expensive, can be tricky to get parties for certain instances, player base is pretty elitist nowadays.
Conclusion: Still a viable game, though now on a downward spiral. You will need to join a guild quickly and make friends very fast or you will find this game frustrating and grindy.
Overall: You could probably find better
PWE Alternatives : War of the Immortals, Forsaken World
Other Alternative : Vindictus
7/10
This Game is infact a hard game to get into…. If you want to spend money here and there to inprove your toon quicker you can. Some game’s you pay to play+ pay for that high LvL gear. I personly spend money on the game after I hit LvL 90 with my first toon. I still spend money to obtain gear that I want quicker… If you wanna play this game the right way just don’t spend 100’s of $$$ on it. You can get end game gear by grinding your way through the game.(Would be hard atleast ten hours a day) I have 2 give this game 8/10 I also hope to see you’ll in game ( I like helping newbies)
Kickstarting your time and effort toward an improved financial position through a monthly obstacle is a great strategy to obtain the ball running and acquire some momentum.
