NapWars has twelve distinct troops that have their own unique powers and weaknesses. Players can use all twelve units to help them in their quest to build their empire. The game features numerous different quests such as Routine quests and Epic quests. While both quest types are frequent, Epic quests are completed on the server and remain there until a certain amount of completion times is reached.

Combat in Napwars is not animated at all, instead Napwars has a real time round based command system that allows giving commands to units in real time whilst the battle progresses. This allows players to employ complex battle strategies and utilize all units to their maximum efficiency.
