Metin2 is an oriental, martial arts themed free to play MMORPG published by Gameforge, the same company that bought you games such as Hellbreed and 0Game. The games graphics and design takes a lot of inspiration from Eastern cultures, thrusting players into a fantasy world filled with mythical creatures and abilities.

The game allows players to choose 1 of 4 classes, Warrior, Ninja, Shaman and Shura. Although each class is restricted to the typical MMORPG archetypes, such as Warrior being a tank, every class also has the option of diversifying within that role to allow for an alternative option. Warriors can choose tank or 2-handed sword, Ninjas can choose stealth-like close quarter combat, or distance with archery and the other 2 classes share similar options. There are also more weapon options available than the typical MMORPG game, as well as utilizing swords, bows and daggers, players can also find and equip more exotic weaponry such as bells and fans.

The world of Metin2 consists of 1 large continent which is host to 4 distinct regions. Three of the regions house the games factions, the Chunjo, Shinsoo and Jinno Empires. Each Empire has very distinctive architecture and area design, making each unique from the next, in effect, creating 3 totally unique ways to progress depending on the Empire you've chosen. At the heart of the continent lies the contested zone, this is the main location of large-scale PvP within Metin2. Players fight it out for the honor of their Empire, with the victors being rewarded with gold and ownership of the land. Players also get awarded with Honor and Glory points which will level their overall PvP level, allowing access to more PvP centered gear and items.

The PvE combat is based around action orientated scenes, players will rarely find a 1v1 fight, instead being ambushed by large groups of monsters at once. Monsters also have well scripted A.I, allowing them to call for reinforcements, or attack you when you're weakest. Metin Stones, certain locations in the game, feature highly congested areas of monsters where players can go and literally farm for hours.
