MapleStory is a 2D side-scrolling free-to-play MMORPG developed by Wizet and published by Nexon. Character development is addressed as in any classic role playing game: players defeat monsters in the Maple World, receive experience points which help them further develop their characters and character skills.
In-game interactivity is assured mainly through chat and trading systems, and can be simplified by grouping with other players or joining guilds. There are other types of interactions among players such as the ability to form heterosexual couples through in-game marriage or compete with other players in a variety of mini-games such as Gomoku or Concentration.
The game currently features four class branches: Explorers, Cygnus Knights, Heros, and Resistance, each with their own job classes which unlock at certain levels. Players begin their adventures as a classless adventurer, before they're able to choose which specific class branch they want to go through to. This adds a highly unique class progression mechanics that gives players something to look forward to every step of the way. The Maple World is split into three continents: Maple Island, Victoria Island and Ossyria. Maple Island is the game’s starting area, Victoria Island is the place where most classes begin and Ossyria can be considered the area with the end-game content. The game also contains regions which mimic real-life locations such as Singapore.
The game utilizes a microtransaction system in which in-game items are sold for real money through the game's Cash Shop. MapleStory is one on of the longest surviving MMO games of this century. Running for almost a decade, the game has 10 years of great customer support, tons of updates and a highly dedicated community.
If you're looking for a safe MMO game that won't close 2 months after you start, or a game with millions of active players, you can't go far wrong with MapleStory.

how many years old do you have to be
How old do you have to be playing this?
RE: jeannie- maplestory is very virus free Nexon has a semi-reliable hack shield but don’t worry it won’t affect your computer. its usually people attacking the gaming program itself not peoples computers
RE: qwfvhj and MMORPLover you can be practically any age to play maplestory its VERY age friendly
most people range from 5th grade to college sometimes even past that
MAPLESTORY IS A VERY FUN GAME!!! AS LONG AS YOU STAY TRUE TO THE RULES, YOU WILL ENJOY MAPLESTORY. it does take awhile to get used to it if u guys ever join feel free to chat me @ character name kazukosan808 on @ 4pm-6pm Pacific Time
btw maplestory is wayyy more newbie friendly (according to the oldtimers) its wayyyy easier to lvl now
happy gaming
This does not have any viruses what so ever. And This is a really fun game, my Children play this all day.
And now they have the BIG BANG (my kids said) so it is good if you sign up fast. The BIG BANG is that it is easier to level (:.
And if you have a PROBLEM such as : It has errors popping up on the web page /you cant get to the website, then that means that : they have banned your IP adress because you joined games that are a copy of the original Maplestory. maplestory is a private server… And copies are not, so that is why sometimes they also shut down :P. So if you have another computer that you did not download copies, then you are lucky cuz then you can download this PRIVATE SERVER (This is the original one) no problemooo!!!!! and i’m pretty sure you have to be in the register thingy at least 15 or somtin, or 14, but always put in a fake year that you where born in ….. Anyways, my kids are 9 and 10, so they still play anyway
AWESOME GAME! 2D but super fun. it has a hack shield, and has no viruses what so ever!
@Sammy
You don’t make any sense at all. I’m assuming you and your kids don’t know much about the game, so don’t go explaining in detail if you have no idea what you’re talking about please. You’ll only confuse new players even more.
“And if you have a PROBLEM such as : It has errors popping up on the web page /you cant get to the website, then that means that : they have banned your IP adress because you joined games that are a copy of the original Maplestory.”
FACE-PALM! Well, someone’s obviously getting their facts from the wrong resources. First of all, you don’t get IP-banned from MS for joining a MS private server. Secondly, errors can be caused by all sorts of things (and definitely not the reason you stated above); maybe the server’s down, your firewall blocked MS, or you’re missing a file, and the list goes on.
PS, I’m just going to assume you’re a middle-aged adult since you’re a mother of two, and your life seems stable enough for you to waste time writing bull reviews about MMORPGs on the internet. Your writing skills are horrible for your age. I know mine aren’t the best, but definitely better than yours. Goodbye now!
I’ve been playing MapleStory for quite a long time; 2011 would be my 5th year. So, I’m one of the old players of this MMORPG. Ever since the Big Bang patch which took place on 12/10, the user interface has been made alot simpler then before and it has been extremely easy to level. During pre-Big Bang, it might’ve taken weeks or a month to reach level 40, but now it now only takes a day or two. The maps have been made simple, and they also took out many maps making it more efficient to travel. I find this a pity, because exploring maps was one of my most favourite things to do when I first started out. But, I warn you that this game may be extremely repetitive and boring if you don’t have friends to talk to, or enjoy the game with. Fortunately, I’ve made some of my BEST FRIENDS (who are still my best buds to this day) throughout most of my years on MapleStory, so my experience has been that of a great one. Though, ever since I came back for Big Bang after my long hiatus from this game, it has been boring as heck due to the fact that I had no one I enjoyed chatting with to talk to. I find it harder to make friends, because of the Big Bang patch… This may not apply to you, but I definitely notice a big difference in this area from pre-Big Bang to post-Big Bang. Anyways, I’ll say it again; usually MapleStory is only enjoyable with friends to hang out with. This applies to every other MMORPG out there.
Maplesory is amazing, they have awsome grafics also and the character options are sweet.
The age requirement is over 13, it has no hacks/viruses that can transmute to your comp, and learn to spell. That should cover it all!
well it has gotten boring cause of the easy levling the old part was kinda better
wat year u born in?
yes it has become super boring I got to lvl 100 is about 3 days so im quite over the game, and the economy is so messed up everyone is just trying to rip people off so you lose your money. it is way to repetitive just killing and killing and killing. it gets extremely boring. don’t waste your time and money.
Because Zed’s intended gameplay focuses so heavily on manipulating his
shadows, we want to force him to actively think about how he’ll use
his tools to assassinate his targets. Bouncing Bomb can now be cast at targets outside of max range but will only travel the
set distance. If you don’t buy all the hype about all of the above, then I believe this is for you.
