The latest free to play browser-based MMORTS title from Aeria Games, Golden Age, is based on the history of the popular Knights of the Templar , an order of Knights that stood proud for over 2 centuries during the Middle Ages.

Browser-based MMORTS titles are not hard to come by, the internet is littered with thousands of them but Golden Age has a number of unique features in its arsenal. The most appealing is the 2D side-scrolling town and city interface, unlike other games where you're always acting from a general point of view, in Golden Age you actually control an avatar when you visit towns and cities, in typical MMORPG fashion. This makes questing, trading and community interactions totally unique when compared to other games in the genre, offering avatar customization and appearance altering equipment, it feels like as much an MMORPG as it does MMORTS.

The graphics are also quite a step up from the average MMORTS title, both the world view and your personal city look far more attractive that you would expect. The quality and detail of the graphics carry's over to other areas of the game such as the combat and 2D town and city screens.

The game offers both PvE and PvP action, offering players protection from possible enemies until they get on their feet. This gives you plenty of time to build up your town and expand your army, during your protection period you can attack A.I controlled resource centers and strongholds in return for experience points, gold and sometimes a rare artifact. Once you're eligible for PvP you can attack other players castles and keeps to steal resources, hinder the growth of their nation or to just get on their nerves.

The game will go into its first CBT phase October 18th and will last for approximately one month before launching into an open beta.
