If you ever wanted to build up a galactic empire, Galaxy Online offers this possibility. Galaxy Online is a 2D MMORPG with a Science-Fiction setting, in which players take control over their homeland and are responsible for constructing new buildings and creating warships in order to conquer the universe and expand their empire. The game was published by IGG.

In character creation players will be able to choose from one of the six factions available: Kadry, Eir, Bakran, Rofilla, Maya, or Rayman. Afterwards players will only have to choose an avatar for their commander and their in-game nickname. Each player starts in a “safe zone”, a homeland, inaccessible to other players, which consists of five planets, a sun, portals and two quest objects. One of the planets belongs to the player and it is the planet on which he or she will start gathering resources, researching and developing.

Combat in Galaxy Online is turn-based. First players must create their own ship by adding different modules to the various hull models available. Afterwards a fleet, containing up to nine ships, must be formed. The game focuses on teamwork and those who choose to play alone will be at great disadvantage as they will rely solely on their own power of attack or defense.

Galaxy Online promotes competition, strategizing and intense planning. The game has an inactivity grace period of 15 days after which all of the user’s colonies are forfeit, so those who are looking for very occasional gameplay should look elsewhere.
