Dream World is a free to play MMORPG published and developed by Kongregate, the same development team that brought you other popular browser games such as Star Supremacy. Players begin their journey after a long dream and must first select which class they dreamed about. There are 3 choices, Knight, Mage and Ranger, each with their own set of abilities and progression paths. Although a player must choose a starting class, the leveling system offers complete freedom of choice, allowing a Knight to level Mage abilities and a Ranger to level both Knight and Mage abilities. Players can earn skill-points for their character by leveling up, this is done by completing quests and defeating monsters. Every 10 levels a player will unlock the next tier of their class, depending on the route you take, Knights can level to Warder, Mages to Adept and Rangers to Marksman. Players that want to combine classes can also unlock advanced classes in the form of Champion and Warlord.

The game is mainly static image based where players have to interact with pictures and objects in order to progress, this is where the exploration system comes into play. Players can explore many different regions, simply by leaving the town and heading to hostile territory, such as mountainous regions, jungles and marshes. Each area has several tiers of difficulty which offer more risk with the chance of greater rewards. There are hundreds of events players can encounter while they're exploring. You can find Magic Mushrooms that replenish your energy and allow you to explore further, you can discover deadly opponents and you can even find various animal allies that will join you in your journey and aid you in combat. Players can also discover many puzzle boxes and locked chests, both of which contain great rewards if the player is smart enough to solve the many puzzles available, they vary greatly and include everything from difficult math puzzles to riddles.
