BattleDawn is a free to play MMORTS title developed and published by TacticSoft. The game is available to play in any popular internet browser, without having to download a large client, making it easy to create an account and start playing.

One of the more interesting aspects of BattleDawn is the option to choose from 3 unique themes. When players start the game they get to choose from Earth, Mars and Fantasy, each representing an era in technology. Earth represents Modern Warfare, Mars represents Futuristic and Fantasy represents Medieval. Each theme has a different world, buildings, units and missions, in effect, offering 3 games in 1.

When building your Colony, BattleDawn gives players total freedom over where to start their empire. Unlike other MMORTS titles that force you to have your base in a certain location, BattleDawn allows you to place your starting colony anywhere in the game world, even on small islands in the middle of the ocean. This unique aspects allows for guilds to congregate in a certain area, dominating nearby resources and NPC locations.

As with any RTS title, resource management is key to creating a strong Colony. BattleDawn offers 4 unique resources, Metal, Oil, Energy and Population. Each resource is used when constructing certain buildings or training certain troops, with the exception of the Population resource. This is basically the amount of workers you have available and the maximum amount of workers your Colony can support, the more workers you have, the quicker you can construct new buildings and gather resources.

Although BattleDawn is available free to play, players do have the option of investing in "Tokens". Tokens are the games micro-transactions system, allowing players to purchase rare in-game items using cash. Unlike other MMORTS titles, BattleDawn is not a "Pay to Win" title and the use of Tokens is merely a method of saving time, and not providing you with unstoppable troops and weaponry.
