Archlord was previously a pay to play title that released in 2006, it has since been revamped and re-released under the watchful eye of popular MMO publishers Webzen. The game has a heavy focus on PvP content and sticks to familiar MMO mechanics such as hot-key combat and grind based progression. The first thing you'll notice when playing Archlord is the superior graphics, the character and weapon models are very attractive when compared to other free to play MMO titles.

The game is mainly RvR based, offering players the choice of aligning with one of 3 of the warring factions. Players may choose to play as a Human, an Orc or a Moon Elf. Although each race is unique in appearance and starting areas, the 3 classes available to each are mirror classes of the other factions. So although a Human Archer and an Orc Hunter may look totally different, the abilities, play style and progression of both classes is almost identical.

By far the most unique aspect to Archlord is the ability for one single player to actually become the Archlord. Over a period of 3 weeks players are able to compete against each-other in a variety of challenges and combat based competitions, when a winner is eventually crowned, they earn the right to challenge the current Archlord for his title. Although anyone, if skilled enough, can become the Archlord, only one player at a time may hold the coveted title. The Archlord has access to amazing abilities such as being able to change the entire server to night or day, ride a flying dragon, create meteor showers and even command monsters to fight alongside him and protect him. The Archlord may also change the price of taxes that people have to pay and even reward players they like with rare items and weapons.
