WarLight is a free to play, customizable turn-based strategy game that pits player against player in a battle to the death. The game borrows many features from the highly popular strategy board game, Risk. Players can go against other players, or intelligent AI, in intense battles for global control. Every single match and map is customizable, allowing players to choose which rules they use and which area they plan in. The game also supports players submissions, giving imaginative fans the opportunity to create their own maps to be supported in-game, creating a constant stream of new content without the restrictions of modern day development costs and planning.

Each map consists of a variety of territories. Players are assigned an even amount at the start of each game, with a number of other areas being assigned to the AI. Whether you're battling for control of the United States of America, or Middle Earth, players must defeat their opponents using in-depth tactics if they wish to emerge victorious. Territories are grouped into continents or areas, each offering a substantial increase in reinforcements if a player owns each territory within that area. This adds a large element of depth to the game as players must decide whether to push for an entire area, or defend it. Each round consists of 3 phases. Players must first assign their new reinforcements to a territory, before deciding to move or attack with their existing armies. All that's left then is to confirm your actions and watch it unfold in real-time.

Another interesting aspect of WarLight is the card system. An optional feature that rewards players with 1/3 of a card each time they take a territory. Each card is beneficial to players in different ways, with some adding new reinforcements at the start of the turn while others will allow long-range transportation of your existing armies.
