Would You Still Dismiss Runescape 3 Because Of Previous Graphical Quality?
Most MMO gamers are no stranger to the world of Runescape, after-all it’s a record breaking browser MMO that was released over 12 years ago. But is there still that common misconception that the games graphics mean it suffers with lackluster game play? Despite Runescape’s obvious popularity among certain MMO circles there have always been a large number of players that refuse to even experience the game purely due to its poor graphical reputation.
Runescape has undergone some massive changes during its time some of which have focused purely on increasing the games graphical capabilities. Some of you may even remember the original Runescape, now known as Runescape Classic, that featured mainly 2D graphics and sprites. Since then Jagex have completely redesigned the Runescape world a number of times, increasing graphics, features, mechanics and everything in-between.
The latest large-scale update, Runescape 3, builds on these features even further. Players can now enjoy features usually reserved for client MMO games, such a a fully customizable and exchangeable UI system and the hugely popular player-driven dynamic events. These new events give players the opportunity to explore Runescape in a whole new way as players influence the future of the world they play in.
The graphics have been vastly improved over the years and they’re better than ever. Players can now also enjoy far more eye-pleasing cut-scenes as they’ve introduced to an epic fight between Saradomin and Zamorak. This is just the foundations of the new content as it continues to improve as players progress.
Despite the fact Runescape now boasts an entirely new combat system, player-driven content, the biggest game world it has ever featured and more items than ever, it may still fall short of expectations for certain players. I think Jagex has done everything possible to try to appeal to a wider audience of MMO gamers but whether it works it not doesn’t really matter, Runescape is huge and Runescape 3 is set to be even bigger.
