The Hottest MMO Announcements At This Years E3
The Electronic Entertainment Expo is in full swing and although there's still plenty of gaming and SWAG to be had, most of the biggest announcements have come and gone. With most of the attention on the bigger AAA console releases we thought we'd highlight our personal top 3 hottest MMO announcements for E3 2014.Warframe
One of the most popular free-to-play third-person shooters on the PC and PlayStation 4 is set to explode later this year following confirmation of an Xbox One launch. The game has already amassed over 6 million players on the PC platform alone and with many next-gen gamers still craving more options on their console of choice, Warframe is sure to impress further with its release on Microsoft's big boy. Despite the good news there's one potential problem standing between players and the explosive world of Warframe, Microsoft. Both the PlayStation 4 and PC versions of Warframe are entirely free-to-play yet Xbox One players will need to be subscribed to Xbox Gold in order to enjoy Warframe in its entirety. It's not exactly bank breaking when you consider the price of Xbox Gold but instead of coaxing additional subscribers to the program, it's more than likely just going to further alienate those that don't wish to subscribe.Grand Theft Auto Online
Arguably one of the most discussed rumors on the internet since its original release, a next-generation or PC version of the record-breaking Grand Theft Auto V. Grand Theft Auto Online is the dream online game for many players but as Rockstar have failed to deliver on many of its original promises so far, the online world has become a little barren at times. Players quickly discovered exploits that resulted in many of the community boasting the most expensive cars and properties within days of release, giving them nothing left to do but harass and troll other members of the GTA Online community. Making matters worse is the ability for players to transfer progress to next-gen consoles. Maybe some content updates, such as the much anticipated Heists, will make a difference - but that's yet to be seen.Destiny
Bungie's Destiny is widely considered to be the most anticipated of all the currently announced next-generation launches, and it's easy to see why. The developers of Halo apply their expertise to a whole new world as they hope to deliver an MMO-esque first-person shooter with character, depth and excitement promised at every turn. E3 2014 saw Bungie and Sony announce an exclusive PlayStation 4 bundle that will allow fans to pick up a white version of the next-gen console, complete with the full Destiny game and 30 days worth of PlayStation Plus subscription time. Accompanying the exciting news is an official E3 trailer showcasing some awesome new gameplay footage from Destiny. Check it out below. So that's our top 3 MMO announcements from E3 this year.
